Think first. That's the whole idea.

What bitshyft is

bitshyft helps small and medium-sized businesses with AI, cybersecurity and IT. We consult, we build tools, and we research and publish what we learn.

Small and medium-sized businesses are being told to adopt AI quickly, and told to worry about security constantly. Much of the advice out there is written for large companies with IT departments, or by companies selling a product. We work for the owner who has to make the call themselves, with a real budget and limited time.

Who runs bitshyft

bitshyft was founded by David Archibald, a leader in IT and cybersecurity with more than 25 years of experience.

That career began in the U.S. Army, securing Army systems and networks. It has since included running network and infrastructure operations for a content delivery network, leading penetration testing at a global technology company, and leading product security at a browser security company, where the work today uses AI agents to find and patch vulnerabilities in source code.

Alongside that work, David has spent years helping business owners with the technical side of running online: getting administrator access to websites they paid for, recovering an online store after a dispute with its developer, and explaining what their providers actually deliver. Read about that work in Keeping control when someone else runs your website.

Work with us

We're taking on a small number of consulting clients.

Good places to start: a plan for using AI without putting customer data at risk, a review of the accounts your business depends on, or untangling a website or IT setup that someone else controls. Tell us what's going on and we'll reply by email.

How we research and write

Independence

We take no vendor sponsorship, no affiliate money and no reseller commissions.

No company pays to be covered, recommended or left out, and we earn nothing when you or a client buys a product we mention. When we compare tools, in an article or for a client, the only goal is a sound decision for your business. When an article mentions bitshyft's own services or tools, it says so.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so in the article, with the date of the change. We don't quietly rewrite what we published. Spotted something? Tell us.
